A Quiet Day

I am one who rarely celebrates a commercialized holiday. Today was no exception as I wanted nothing from my children except for them to be in good health. A phone call was enough just to see if I was still alive. I still am so I decided to write this little piece of nonsensical, to some, article.

The height of being a father is the birth of his children through his wife’s labor. After these almost five decades that is still what I recall with impetus on fondness. I love my kids, plain and simple as I know most of you who are fathers do. I also thank goodness that there is no draft any longer. That is what almost got me killed as I had to enlist to not be drafted. An ironic and desultory reason, but a good enough reason for me.

Each day I thank God for my life to be still vital and meaningful. Odds are it will not be for a heck of a lot longer so I make hay while the sun shines. You should to. In fact, make a point of doing so and I will check in on you to see how you’re doing. ‘K?
