A Life

We rather take it for granted, life. Sure, we wake up with one or more problems each day that need addressing and we have our likes and displeasures with people but we seem to miss our first conscious breath in this melee of mind. Breathing will be a recurring theme on this website because all else we do comes from air. No, I don’t forget food and water or great vodka or a ride out to the coast. What I speak of here is the taking for granted of all we do considering that first breath when we leave the womb.

I’m not certain that anyone else puts things on this basic level of life but they should. Indeed, it is kind of silly not to unless we take ourselves for granted: a thing we should not do. No, you and I have been granted a thing that many are not, life. Of course, there is no accounting for those never born but we know that they do not exist because there is plenty of air for us. We die for the same reason, so that there is air for those coming along. 2 + 2 = 4 is the real simplicity that life should be. Algebra and trigonometry and calculus would not exist but for air and water. The rest just comes along from too much time on our hands and time is also a luxury.

It is not yet here that we can each lay under a tree at noon after tending our own vineyard that morning but that is coming for those who take nothing for granted. It is Scriptural if the Bible is taken as truth. Then again, we have science which says the Bible is made of fairy tales and is only good reading for fools. Funny, that. Hilarious how egocentric humans think they know everything, except a truth older than us. Far older than us. So old that time has no bearing on our creator. Always was and always will be is myth according to science. How very limiting scientific thought is. Time to take off the bridle? Me thinks it is unless we are satisfied to take our last breath in ignorance.
